"Born Under Fire"
General Enrollment Information - Resident Training
Admission Requirements
To enroll in resident training, enrollment must be requested through the Army Training Requirements and Resources System (ATRRS). You must be a US military commissioned officer, warrant officer, or enlisted member in either the Active or Reserve Component, an authorized federal civilian employee, or a US citizen employed by the Department of Defense.
Class Size
The optimum class size is 10 students for most initial entry level courses requiring hands-on instruction, with an acceptable range of 8 to 12 students per class. Generally, the instructor to student ratio is up to 1:20 for classroom-type instruction, with a maximum ratio of 1:6 to meet safety requirements during hands-on/practical exercises.
Uniform and Dress Code
The Army combat uniform (ACU) is the prescribed uniform for classes. The Army Service Uniform is required for graduation. Civilians must wear comparable attire for classes and graduation.
Typical Student Day
The student day will vary as a result of the training shift to which the student is assigned. Based on student load, some courses are conducted on a single-shift schedule while others are conducted during a second or third shift. All students, however, will receive the following training regardless of academic shift: physical training, technical training, and Soldier common task training.
Absences
Absences from academic periods must be requested through the appropriate battalion and Training Department to which the student is assigned. Students must receive 80 percent of the training for the course and maintain an academic average of 70 percent to graduate.
Grading and Testing
The 128th Aviation Brigade has a strict honor code by which all students are bound. All tests are developed in accordance with the criterion reference principles and procedures. Students will be given both written and practical performance-based tests. Any student who fails to maintain a 70 percent average will be evaluated for further potential in the Army Aviation Career Management Field.
Certificates
All students who successfully complete a prescribed course of instruction will be awarded a certificate of graduation. Initial-entry training (IET) students and students in NCOES courses will receive diplomas, while transition course students and DoD civilian students will receive certificates of completion. International students may be awarded a certificate of attendance as necessary. Top IET students in each course are eligible to compete in the honors program. Additionally, the American Council on Education (ACE) has recommeded the award of transfer credits to higher education and/or vocational institutions for resident courses. The courses are listed in the Guide to the Evaluation of Educational Experiences in the Armed Services.
