Newport News

Newport News Park, one of the largest city-run parks in the country, offers camping, boating and fishing, hiking and biking trails, multiple playgrounds and picnic shelters, an archery range, an 18-hole championship disc golf course, and 2 18-hole golf courses.

Hampton

The Virginia Air & Space Center, the visitor center for NASA Langley Research Center and Langley Air Force Base, features the Adventures in Flight and Space Quest galleries with more than 100 "hands-on" exhibits which tell the story of air and space exploration. See the Apollo 12 Command Module, a Mars meteorite, a three-billion year-old moon rock, and visit the 3D IMAX Theater.

Fort Monroe, home of the Casemate Museum, is the largest stone fort ever built in the U.S. Nicknamed "Freedom's Fortress", Fort Monroe spans the American story through the 21st century.

Yorktown

Yorktown is known for both its waterfront charm and its famous battles. Check out the many shops and restaurants along Riverwalk Landing or enjoy a walk along the York River's sandy beach.

Yorktown was pivotal in both the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. Start your visit to Yorktown Battlefield at the Yorktown Visitor Center; driving tours and ranger led tours of the battlefield are available. Yorktown Battlefield is part of the Colonial National Historical Park.

Williamsburg

Busch Gardens, voted world's most beautiful theme park since 1990, is a classic Europe-themed amusement park, offering roller coasters, live entertainment, and kid-friendly rides and Sesame Street characters.

Colonial Williamsburg is a living-history museum, offering unique dining and shopping experiences. More than 20 guided and self-guided tours are offered daily, where you can enter the homes of Williamsburg's 18th-century residents, get a firsthand perspective from a curator, or see the city by carriage.

In addition to Yorktown Battlefield, Colonial National Historical Park also includes Historic Jamestown, where you can discover the beginnings of the first permanent English colony; Cape Henry Memorial, the Jamestown settlers' first landing site in Virginia; and Colonial Parkway, a 23-mile, scenic byway connecting Jamestown, Colonial Williamsburg, and Yorktown, as it meanders along woodlands, wetlands, tidal creeks, and rivers.

Norfolk

Nauticus, a maritime-themed science center and museum located on the waterfront in downtown Norfolk, is home to the USS Wisconsin, one of the largest battleships ever built. The museum features hands-on exhibits, interactive theaters, and a variety of educational programs.

Norfolk Botanical Garden is a non-profit museum and historic landmark, located near Norfolk International Airport.

The Virginia Zoo, a 53-acre zoo, is home to more than 500 animals.

Virginia Beach

The Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center offers hands-on exhibits, nature paths, and an Adventure Park for an eco-friendly zip line and aerial adventure experience.
